We are so Very Proud of Our Little Writing Superstar

Brayden's school participated in a writing contest where they had to write about taking a lizard friend on an adventure trip. The story would be based off of some children's books by a local author. Our incredible kid won the contest for the entire school! He even beat out second graders! We are so proud of him. He got to go to Hanahan High School to participate in a writing workshop and he got a certificate and medal which he is holding up in these pictures. Then he got to meet the author who wrote the book! So exciting! Way to go Brayden!

My Hubby Wanted a Carrot Cake...

So I made an Easter version! I made the cake w/round cake pans. Then I dyed the icing orange. Then I dyed some shavings of coconut, and smashed some sandwich cookies. The effect looks like a carrot! I think it turned out super cute!

Visit to the Angel Oak Tree

The Angel Oak Tree is one of the largest and oldest trees in the USA!

The kids had fun mazing their way through the tree limbs and trunks on the ground!

Hudson had learned to make a fire the night before so he wanted to make another fire out of these two sticks :)

Evening at KOA Campground

Aunt Hope and Uncle Rob and Cousin Ella came down to Mt. Pleasant to camp at the KOA campground! So we decided to go hang out with them! It was a rainy, yucky day that day, but as soon as evening set in, it was absolutely beautiful outside! We played baseball, played at the playground and had a cookout and roasted our own hotdogs on delicious pretzel buns and roasted smores! They were made with amazing chocolate from trader joes which made them even more sweet and creamy! We had a blast, we might have to take up camping! ;)

Home Made Almond Joys

I took a bag of coconut and mixed it with a can of sweetened condensed milk. Then I molded them into oblong shapes. Then I placed them on a cookie sheet and froze them for 1 hour to make sure they were nice and cold. Then I melted chocolate, and dipped the frozen mixture into the melted chocolate. It is better to do one at a time and keep them frozen. It's time consuming but they cant be softened or else it will become a gooey mess! I used only one bag of semi-sweet milk chocolate morsels. If I did this again, I would use maybe a bag and a half to two bags to melt, to make sure they were all covered completely. Yummy!

Easter Crafting

Aunt Chloe came over and we made Easter yarn eggs and Easter egg wreaths! The wreaths were super easy and low budget! We used dollar store eggs, wreath, and grass! All you do is glue the eggs to the wreath with a glue gun and then stuff a little of your favorite color Easter grass in between to fill any gaps!

Spring is in the Air!

Brayden starts baseball on Monday, so the weather was perfect for going to the park behind our house to practice! Plus I needed an excuse to take my new camera out for a spin. :)

Short Cut Skillet Apple Pie

This is so delicious it's insane! I melted 1/2 stick of butter in a cast iron skillet. Then I placed a the bottom of a pre-made pie dough onto the bottom of the skillet. Then I poured in a pre-made apple pie filling. I used a 16 oz can. Then I pressed the top layer of the pre-made apple pie filling around the top of the skillet. I poked holes in the middle and baked in the oven at 350 for 45 minutes. So yummy and easy!
